What is Remedial Massage?

remedial massage lilydale

Remedial MassageRemedial Massage is the assessment and hands on treatment of musculoskeletal ailments or conditions; this includes treatment and/or manipulation of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue. Many Remedial Massage Therapists are trained in several different modalities, such as trigger point therapy, deep tissue or sports massage, cupping, or lymphatic drainage. These techniques are used individually or combined to treat pain, for injury management, or to assist in rehabilitation. A remedial treatment will often include an assessment, massage, home care advise, stretches, and/or a continued care plan.

A Remedial Massage Therapist must have up to date qualifications, participate in continued study and education, and be registered with a government accredited association.
Often Remedial Massage Therapists will work with sporting clubs, treating their players, or will work in a multidisciplinary clinic alongside other health care professionals. Sometimes they will also work in Day Spas or have mobile business’.

Our Remedial Massage Therapist works in conjunction with our Chiropractors, often working alongside them in creating a care plan that best suits the patient. She is also is a member of Massage & Myotherapy Australia (formerly Australian Association of Massage Therapists) and regularly attends association meetings and learning seminars, as well as further study in other areas of interest to her, such as Pregnancy Massage.
